That said, Grant was a soldier fighting a war and made decisions that caused great destruction and death to hundreds of thousands on both sides. As his close friend and right hand W.T. A long as the bugs can be identified and fixed quickly, the programmer had done his/her job. Efficiency is a strange measurement. If somebody codes quickly but has a lot of bugs is that better or worse than someone who codes slowly but has few bugs. To me, the most important measurement is that the code is written in such a way that it can be easily extended, fixed, and debugged. It seems to me, that you have been lucky enough to find a good programmer. Don't lose him/her, as it can be difficult to find a good one that is a good match for your application

Those car companies were building cars when over half of the USA wasnt hooked up to the electrical grid.Youd drive your electric car to see your country cousins but would not be able to drive it back because they had no electricity to hook up to. Oh they might have had a wincharger that kept the batteries to their radio charged but that was only when the wind was blowing.

The farm my mom grew up on had one of these. The farm my dad grew up on had a plant that produced carbide gas for lights. That farm did not get electricity until the early 50s. Once hooked up to the grid electricity was expensive and a kid forgetting to turn off a light could lead to punishment.Cars with an ICE engine did not need an electrical grid to hook up to. Even the gas pumps back then were powered by hand.
